Aloha,

Our 43rd Damien Class of 1969 Reunion will be in Las Vegas next year on Saturday,  October 20, 2012. Travel dates from Oahu ...will be departure from Oahu, Thursday, October 18, 2012 on the 11 pm redeye; returning to Honolulu from Las Vegas 10/23/11.

By setting the date early, perhaps we'll be able to hook up to a cheap Hawaiian Airlines fare...at times its as low as about $350-$450 round trip.

We have a number of educators in our class, by having the reunion date on the weekend we sure hope you will attend your 43rd reunion.

The two above attached is from our 40th reunion held on 10/17/2009 at the Pullman Room, Main Street Hotel & Casino.

I made an inquiry with Main Street Hotel & Casino  yesterday to reserve their Pullman Room for our function on 10/20/12. I have not heard back whether we have the reservation yet; but I'm pretty sure they will accomodate us....if not he Pullman Room ...another space large enough for our group.

Our reunion committee is open for membership; anyone who wants to join is welcome. Please let us know if you want to be a reunion committee member.

We will establish a website soon for our Damien Memorial High School class of 1969. We want to set it up so we can post the link in the school's website alumni news section.

We haven't set the activities yet but there will be 2 days of golf planned, and a cocktail party Friday, 10/19/12 at the 777 Bar at Main Street. We will be trying in the months ahead leading up to our event to try and reach everyone in our class who we have not heard from. We will also ask the spouses attending to give us some ideas of activities they would like scheduled too.

The 2009 reunion turned out to be a very special.

We hope 2012's will be even better!

We're all in the 60's, getting old, while you are still able to travel... please attend!

Any questions...email me or call my cell.

Greetings to Everyone!

If there are any Class of '68 grads out there, we here in the Pacific Northwest area would be ecstatic to here from you...

It's been years, but some of us here got together for lunch several weeks ago and threw around the idea of trying to get in touch with other Damien grads...

Currently in the Seattle area, Fred Woodruff, John Santiago, Vernon Oshiro, Pat Edwards, and I have occasionally gotten together for lunch.

Anyway, this is an attempt to re-connect with other '68 (or others) grads...

Hope to hear from some of you.

Alumni Basketball League

Damien Alumni Basketball League…..

With the renewal of the Damien Alumni Basketball League came a revival of friendships, stories, and fun. Over 80 alumni- from as far back as the class of 1982, and as recent as 2010- participated in the 2 ½ month long season. All participants seemed to enjoy the experience and look forward to another successful season next summer.

Seven teams competed in the summer season, which included a 10-game regular season schedule that culminated in a one-day single elimination tournament and family fun day. The team that emerged victorious was comprised of alumni from the classes of ‘91, ‘92, ‘93, and ’95, hence the team name, “The Best of the 90’s.”

After the tournament was over, all teams enjoyed a day of family fun at the Damien campus. All alumni and their families were invited to the school for a wonderful gathering of the Damien Ohana. Barbeque grills, tents, chairs, tables- and even a huge bouncer for the kids- lined the Damien football field for hours after the basketball games were over. There were so many new memories made and stories of old shared that evening, especially those that only Damien guys would know.

Even though there could only be one champion, all alumni who participated became part of a larger fraternity of brothers that will last forever. It gave alumni from several decades apart to bond together, share experiences, tell stories, create new friendships, and renew old ones. Overall, it was an awesome season and a memorable day to be proud alumni of Damien Memorial School.

On a side note, we are trying to field several more teams for next summer. If you are interested in playing or making a team of your own for the 2011 season, please contact me for more information.
