BUILDING A NEW LEGACY

The Monarch football team is off to a great start, going 2-0 in preseason and working hard Live on OC16, the Damien Monarchs defeated the Kaimuki Bulldogs 31-21 on Mililani's new turf field.

Getting off to a slow start, Damien's defense gave up a touchdown toKaimuki while also missing a field goal kick on the first offensive drive. But, everything changed when Leeland Lauti ROCKED the running back causing the first Kaimuki turnover of the game. Gaining momentum from Leeland's hit, the offense soon got back into rhythm scoring on the next drive by Syles Choy wedging it into the end zone behind Jacob Lewis, Nick Angoco, Alii Arrechi, James Roy, and Gavin Ah Yat-Kahapea. From then on, it was Damien all the way, as the defense held strong causing four more turnovers. Turnovers coming from Jashon Ching, picking off the ball twice, Brian Lam causing a fumble and recovering it himself, and Jameson White who picked off the ball and took it to the FALE!(house in Samoan). Syles Choy threw for 131 yards and 3 touchdowns.

Hoping to build on their 2-0 record, Damien is looking forward to next weeks challenge against Vacaville Christian, from Northern California on Saturday, August 25 at Aloha Stadium 2pm.
