Homecoming Spirit Week 9/15-9-19

Get ready to show your school spirit!!! Homecoming week is coming Sept. 15-19, you can participate in the dress down days by donating specific items on each day, the burning of the DM pep rally will be on Friday night leading up to the big game against St. Francis on Saturday Sept. 20th 11:30am at Aloha Stadium.

Detentions, based on homeroom teachers’ discretion, will be given for misconduct or if students do not meet dress requirements.

Give Aloha

GiveAloha-Logo1From September 1 – 30,  visit your favorite Foodland store and make a donation at the check-out to Damien (#77030) using your Maika’i Card.  Thanks to Foodland and the Western Union Foundation, each donation up to $249 per person will be matched.  You can find more information about the Give Aloha program here


When you’re putting together your Foodland grocery list, “lettuce” say we think you’re “soup-er” when you give to Damien at the check-out, especially during these “dates” when dollars will “meat” another dollar with the “match”.  After “All”, everyone knows Damien supporters are the top “banana”!

Monarch Media Nominated for Hiki No Award

Hiki No FestivalCongratulations to Christian Cubacub, Kacie Kimoto and Huy Nguyen for their nomination in the first ever Hiki No Award Festival. Their story on Damien’s own Nick Acosta has been nominated for “Best News Writing” (High School).

A preview show was shown at Ward Theatre, with over 20 schools in attendance along with the PBS executives, staff and guests of the Hawaii film industry. The public can also watch the nominated stories from Friday, August 29 through Thursday, September 4 at Consolidated Theaters – Pearlridge for a  reduced ticket price. The winners will be announced via live stream on Wednesday, September 17 at www.pbshawaii.org.
