On a cool, windy, Saturday evening at Kailua High School, the legacy continues for Damien’s football team. Damien defeated Kalaheo 31-0 in its opening game to kickoff the 2012-13 football season. Damien had an incredible game that night as they scored 3 touchdowns in the first half and denied Kalaheo from any offensive threat. Damien's O-line pushed and blocked down the field for running back Kyle Sato and they also helped quarterback Syles Choy wedge 2 three yard run touchdowns in the end zone. Choy threw a 40+ yard pass to Dustin Munar to run it in the end zone. Defense played stellar as they got 2 sacks, an interception, and some turnovers throughout the first half of the game. Kinney Blas had four sacks, Jashon Ching, DJ Aumua, and Kana’i Picanco each added sacks to end the night. Next week the Damien Monarchs play against the Kaimuki Bulldogs at Mililani at 4:00pm on Friday, August 17. By the look at this game the Damien Monarchs are on to a good start for this upcoming season.
