Let go Monarchs! Was the chant heard out at Castle football field this past Saturday.  And go did the Monarchs.  After a slow start to the game, the Monarchs, dressed in their all white Under Armour uniforms, took it to the Division I football from Kaneohe.  After taking an early lead 6-0 the Monarchs slowed down a bit and made the game interesting for all who attended the game.  The Monarch defense held tight for most of the first half till giving up a late bomb in the 2nd quarter to give Castle their first lead of the game.  The Monarchs would answer quickly and punch it into the endzone with just 30 seconds left in the half to snatch the lead back for good.

After halftime it was all Monarchs, who scored in every which way possible, through the air, on the ground, and twice on special teams.  It was a complete victory for the Monarchs who dressed only 32 players.  Despite the lopsided score, the game was pretty competitive for two and half quarters before the Monarchs put 16 straight points in a matter of minutes.  A quick strike from Marcus Faufata-Pedrina to Jarvis Natividad started the scoring barrage, next was a three and out on defense which led to a safety, then the ensuing kickoff was returned 70 yards for a TD by Akila Arrechi.

The Monarchs cruised the rest of the way with two more scores and were able to play all their reserves while still maintaining the high level of play.  It was a solid victory and a well-deserved win for the boys and coaches who worked so hard over the summer.

Although it wasn't without some drama as one of our starting offensive linemen, was injured during a routine play and was unable to return to the game.  We will all be praying for Magnus as he battles through this injury.  All in all it was a great day for Damien Football and a great start to the 2017 season.

Upcoming pre-season games are as follows:

Saturday Aug. 12  vs. Kealekehe @ Kealekehe @ 6pm

Friday Aug. 18 vs. Villa Park @ Farrington's Skippa Diaz Stadium at 5pm

Please join us and be apart of the excitement as we take on these next two opponents before we kickoff the regular season against the Iolani Red Raiders.
