Eighth Graders Sweep ‘Inspired in Hawaii’ Essay Contest

Damien Memorial School eighth graders swept the top three places in the 2017 Clarence T.C. Ching “Inspired in Hawaii” essay contest. The winning students are:

·       1st place:  Millard “Miles” Brown (now attending Le Jardin Academy);

·       2nd place: Donovan Fuji

·       3rd place:  Nathan Gonzalez.

This is the third-consecutive year that Damien students took the top three honors in their age division, reports English teacher Gayle Pai. Her eighth graders dominated the competition in 2016 and her tenth graders swept in 2015.

In addition, one of Pai’s eighth graders took third place in the contest’s poster division during 2016.
