Mission and Values

Our Mission Statement

At Damien Memorial School, we are committed to guiding students from all walks of life to become responsible, respectful, and community-minded young men and women who are prepared to excel in higher education and ready for the challenges of their future.

As a community of faith, missioned by the Roman Catholic Church, we espouse the message of the Gospel of Jesus Christ as reflected in the Essential Elements of an Edmund Rice Christian Brother Education and inspired by the selfless service of Saint Damien of Molokaʻi.

An Edmund Rice Christian Brother Education

As a Catholic college preparatory school in Honolulu, Damien is rooted in the tradition of the Christian Brothers. The Essential Elements guide our commitment to:

  • Evangelization and faith formation

  • Inclusive community

  • Justice and solidarity

  • Academic excellence

  • A liberating and transformative education

These principles shape our classrooms, our leadership, and our community life.

Faith in Action

Faith at Damien is lived daily in prayer, in service, and in the way we treat one another. Students are encouraged to grow spiritually, think morally, and serve generously.

Inspired by Saint Damien’s courage and compassion, we call our students to live out the Gospel with integrity and conviction.

Forming Responsible Leaders

We believe education is about formation as much as achievement.

Through rigorous academics, leadership opportunities, service programs, and student life experiences, we prepare young men and women to:

  • Lead with courage

  • Respect the dignity of others

  • Contribute meaningfully to their communities

  • Pursue excellence with humility

Guided by our motto, Viriliter Age Live Courageously, Damien students are challenged to live boldly in faith and purpose.
