Advanced Placement (AP) classes are college-level courses students can take in high school. AP classes are more intense than high school classes and scoring well on AP exams may allow you to earn college credit, advanced placement or both, possibly saving you thousands of dollars.

Honors courses are designed to challenge the most academically capable students. These courses are weighted as 4.5 on a 4.0 grade scale.

Dual credit means a student takes a college course to earn both high school and college credit. Courses that have been identified and pre-approved to satisfy certain Damien Memorial courses can be taken.  The cost of the dual credit is the responsibility of the student and ʻohana (family). Participation in dual credit courses is optional.

Dual credit courses are available to students in good academic standing and who exemplify good conduct and meet established academic requirements of the respective post-secondary institution such as SAT/ACT, academic qualifying tests, or GPA (grade point average).  

Dual credit courses offered will be available late spring and summer, and are subject to change.  Students, who meet the qualifying criteria, are eligible to take up to 2 semester courses per school year.  Contact your grade level counselor for more information.
