Speech & Debate Qualifies for States at Invitational Tournament

This past Thanksgiving weekend, members of the Speech and Debate Team (Courtnee Elento, Thomas Allen, Ian Bento, Dominic Boland, Brock Vierra, Emanuele Muehlhauser, Caleb Caetano-Castro, and Emily Burke) participated in the Kamehameha Thanksgiving Invitational Tournament over the course of two days.  The Invitational Tournament included competitors from out of state in a round of six intense preliminaries as well as a final showdown.  A congratulations goes out to all members for participating in this tournament.  Courtnee Elento went into the finals in the newly introduced Program Oral Interpretation category, Thomas Allen represented Damien in the United States Extemporaneous final round (as an 8th grader nonetheless), and the team of Ian Bento and Dominic Boland earned their spot in the Varsity Policy Debate final round to challenge long time rivals Iolani.  Thomas placed fourth, Courtnee placed fourth and qualified for States, while Ian and Dominic placed second and will be going to States as well.  The next qualifying tournament Damien will be participating in will be in January, but you can join Damien's team at the McKinley Non-Qualifying Tournament in December.
