Full Accreditation/College Preparatory Education

Damien Memorial School is fully accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges, The National Catholic Educational Association, and the Hawaii Association of Independent Schools.  Students graduating from Damien’s college preparatory program with satisfactory transcripts and standardized test scores qualify for acceptance to any major College or University, nationwide.  (list of college acceptances)

Catholic Mission & Identity

Damien is proud to be a Catholic School named after St. Damien of Moloka’i, Hawaii’s first Saint.  This Catholic Identity is reflected in our curriculum and extracurricular activities on campus.  Damien students are required to take a religion class each year that they are at Damien, and all-school masses are observed monthly.  The Campus Ministry Program offers retreats for all grade levels, as well as the “Encounter Retreat” program for Juniors & Seniors. Damien has a school chaplain, and daily mass is offered to students voluntarily in the Brothers Chapel.

Athletics

Damien Memorial School has a full athletic program and competes in both the Catholic School League (CSL) and the Interscholastic League of Honolulu (ILH).  Students can compete in Intermediate, Junior Varsity, and Varsity Levels of sports such as Football, Basketball, Volleyball, Baseball, Soccer, Wrestling, Tennis, Canoe Paddling, Golf, Bowling, Track & Field, Cross Country, and Judo.

Extracurricular Activities

As part of the Damien experience, students are given the opportunity to participate in extracurricular activities that allow them to develop their talents and abilities, find areas of interest that they may develop a passion for, and help them become well rounded individuals.  These activities include Speech & Debate, National Honors Society, News Writing, Photo Journalism, Psychology, CSI Club, Computer Tech Club, Student Government, Music Ministry, Campus Ministry, Leo Club, Legion of Mary, JROTC, intramural sports, and other activities based on student interest.
