Damien Memorial School Appoints Walter “Wally” Marciel ’79 as President

School President and CEO

Honolulu, Hawaiʻi — Damien Memorial School is proud to announce the appointment of Walter “Wally” Marciel, Class of 1979, as President of Damien Memorial School, effective February 5, 2026.

Over the past 20 months, Wally was asked to step in as Damien’s interim president and has done a tremendous job in guiding the school in a positive direction. His appointment was made by the Sponsor Council of Damien Memorial School with the unanimous recommendation of the Board of Directors.

As a proud alumnus, Wally accepted this permanent role with a continued deep understanding of the school’s mission and its long-standing commitment to forming students who are responsible, respectful, and community-minded.  The Damien ‘ohana looks forward to working alongside Wally to continue to strengthen the school’s academic programs, nurture spiritual growth, and foster a strong sense of giving within our communities. 

We continue to support Wally’s leadership to guide Damien Memorial School into its next chapter of growth and excellence grounded in the values exemplified by Saint Damien of Moloka’i.
