DMS COVID PROTOCOLS

Protocol for Covid-19 positive test:
If a student tests positive for Covid-19, immediately notify attendance@damien.edu.
Submit test result and isolate for 5 days (fully vaccinated or unvaccinated).
Student must be fever-free (temperature of 99 degrees or lower) for 24 hours without any fever-reducing medications AND symptoms resolved/significantly reduced before return to campus.
Submit doctor’s note clearing student to resume school.
Protocol for experiencing cold/flu/Covid-like symptoms:
If a student is experiencing cold/flu/Covid-like symptoms, keep student at home and immediately notify attendance@damien.edu.
Submit test result (fully vaccinated or unvaccinated).
Student must be fever-free (temperature of 99 degrees or lower) for 24 hours without any fever-reducing medications AND symptoms resolved/significantly reduced before return to campus.
Submit doctor’s note (required only if student is away for 3 or more days).
Protocol for Covid-19 exposure:
If a student is made aware they are in close contact with a Covid +ve person and HAS NO cold/flu/Covid-like symptoms, they can continue attending school with no isolation/testing required (mask is required on campus for 5 days).
If a student is made aware they are in close contact with a Covid +ve person and they ARE EXPERIENCING cold/flu/Covid-like symptoms, notify the school immediately, take a test (rapid or PCR) and monitor symptoms for 24-hours off campus. Submit test results to attendance@damien.edu for approval to return to campus.
“Mask Welcome” policy:
Masks are no longer mandatory on campus except for..
1. Visits to the campus Health Room
2. 5 days of masking on campus for students who are either returning from isolation after a Covid positive test or if deemed a close contact of a Covid positive individual
Please note: If students are absent due to illness, they are responsible for completing the work posted to Blackboard for each class and to remain in communication with their teachers. No hybrid/online learning via Blackboard Collaborate will be available.
